Capacity development
In addition to providing of funding, IKI Small Grants supports IndyACT in their organisational capacity.
At the initial phase, the focus will be on developing, finalizing, and endorsing the national municipal climate action framework, as well as engaging municipalities and encouraging them to sign up to it. Capacity development in this phase will therefore be limited to identifying the types of support that municipalities will require to effectively develop and implement their climate action plans under the framework. Through the drafting group meetings and stakeholder consultations, this phase of the project will outline the key areas where municipal capacities need to be strengthened (e.g., climate planning basics, data collection, Data collection, reporting procedures, sector-specific technical needs, community engagement, and tools that enable municipalities to feed into national reporting such as NDCs.) These discussions will shape the structure of the future capacity development programme that will be hopefully further developed of the project – guidebook development, training sessions, etc.
