Greening Urban Areas to Improve Availability of Water and Scale Up Climate Resilience in Ramallah City

With support from IKI Small Grants funding, an acclaimed local Palestinian non-profit NGO enhances air quality and urban greenery in Ramallah. The initiative creates impact through jobs for unemployed women in a nursery, aiming to plant 60,000 trees and flowers citywide. Addressing local conditions, particularly water scarcity, the nursery uses treated wastewater. This empowers women in urban design, serving as role models for the youth. A cooperation agreement with the city administration ensures the project’s long-term sustainability and potential for replication.
