Ukraine is highly vulnerable to the impacts of climate change. It has identified several priority areas for adaptation measures, such as agriculture, water resources, energy, transportation, health, the urban environment and forests, and coastal zone management. As a result of recent decentralisation reforms, communities have more autonomy in decision-making, receiving a significant share of taxes. However, international climate commitments are not yet adequately linked to national policies.

This IKI Small Grants project aims to improve participatory development of mitigation measures in selected municipalities. It accompanies these efforts with various knowledge-building formats and strengthens municipal participation in national processes. In addition, two municipal climate protection measures are co-funded, which supports financial sustainability.
