Climate change has severely impacted smallholder farmers in Kafue District, Zambia, especially women, youths, and persons with disabilities. This IKI Small Grants project aims to strengthen resilience and improve livelihoods through sustainable agriculture and climate adaptation in four communities. Key expected outcomes include training 80 farmers as Master Trainers to teach climate-smart practices to 90 others, establishing four demonstration plots, organizing 16 community events, and connecting communities to weather forecast systems. The project also envisions fostering strong ties between Master Trainers and agricultural extension officers to ensure ongoing support and knowledge sharing, promoting long-term sustainability and empowerment for vulnerable farming groups.

  • Communication and resource mobilisation: Improve visibility and support local and international fundraising efforts.
  • Professional and technical skills development: Equip staff with sustainable agriculture knowledge and keep finance personnel updated on sector trends through Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA) conference, for instance.
