IKI Small Grants is funding a project by the Tanzanian non-governmental organisation Community Aid and Social Education Empowerment (CASEE) that aims to enhance community resilience through environmental conservation activities and climate-smart agriculture practices. CASEE plans to plant over 20,000 trees, establish community woodlots, and promote perennial crops such as chaya and moringa. The project involves community awareness meetings, capacity-building workshops for 300 participants, and collaboration with 50 local leaders, 10 schools, 5 NGOs, and the private sector. It is expected to improve forest cover, enhance food security, and increase community sensitivity to climate change, particularly benefiting women and 2,000 school children.

CAPACITY DEVELOPMENT

In addition to providing funding, IKI Small Grants supports CASEE in its organisational capacity development through advanced trainings on:

  • community empowerment for climate action training
  • eesult-based project management training
  • gender mainstreaming
  • resource mobilization and report writing

ABOUT THE ORGANISATION

Community Aid and Social Education Empowerment (CASEE), based in Arusha, empowers local communities and addresses poverty and social injustice. The non-governmental organisation collaborates with schools on projects such as distributing bicycles to improve school attendance, enhancing education through e-learning, and equipping schools with water tanks.
